Homework

Homework

We believe homework is beneficial to children’s learning because it:

Gives children opportunity to revise and practice what they are learning at school

Gives children opportunity to develop independent learning skills

Gives parents opportunity to see how their children are progressing and to participate with their learning.

How parents can help

Wherever possible please provide children with a quiet space to work

Encourage them to have a regular time to do their homework.

Encourage children to do their best. Try and keep the homework time positive.

If there are difficulties or problems with your child’s homework please talk firstly to the teacher. If the problem is unresolved then please come and talk to the Principal.

Reading every night is very important to develop a love of reading and regularly choose to read for pleasure.

Please encourage your child’s love of reading by taking them to the public library and showing them reading is important to you as well.

The school library is open at lunchtimes for any students who would like to use the schools resources for certain aspects of their homework (eg, dictionaries, internet access, encyclopedias).
